Here’s the skinny: my thesis film for UCLA, Blue Boy is making its way in the world and screening at festivals and I’m thankful and happy about that, but at this point I’ve grown weary of asking anyone for permission to either make work or show work.
Meanwhile I’m also learning that asking for permission to make work or show work (through agents, festivals, investors, etc.) is one of the things you spend the majority of your time doing while working in film. So the solution is to set-up a schedule and framework to make work and show work all on your own (this seems to be a lesson some learned a while ago). That solution for me is this project, Sparrow Songs.
